TakticalSnap is a sports video analysis app built around a simple principle: your film and your breakdowns stay on your device. This policy explains what the app does — and deliberately does not do — with your data.
The short version
- All AI analysis — player tracking, side detection, play detection, heatmaps — runs entirely on your device. Your videos are never uploaded to us or to anyone else.
- We do not require an account, and we do not collect names, email addresses or any personal profile.
- The only data that leaves your device is what you explicitly choose to share (exported clips), App Store purchase processing handled by Apple, and — if you choose to watch a rewarded ad to unlock a free export — the ad request described below.
Data processed on your device
The following is created and stored only in the app's local storage on your device:
- Videos you import from your photo library, and the projects built around them
- Analysis results — player positions, side assignments, detected plays, trails, heatmaps
- Your annotations — telestration, chalkboard sketches, text notes
- Voice-over recordings you make while narrating a clip
- Rendered clips you create, and the field calibration points you tap
None of this is transmitted to us. Deleting a project deletes its data; deleting the app deletes everything.
Permissions the app requests
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Photo library (read) | To let you pick game film for analysis |
| Photo library (add) | To save your exported videos back to your library |
| Microphone | To record your voice-over narration on clips |
| Speech recognition | To transcribe voice-overs into captions |
Each permission is requested only when the related feature is first used, and every feature except video import works without the optional permissions.
A note on speech recognition. Transcription uses Apple's Speech framework. Depending on your device and language settings, Apple may process the audio on its servers as described in Apple's privacy policy. We never receive that audio or its transcript.
Advertising on the free tier
TakticalSnap is free to break down film with. Exporting video is the only paid gate, and free users can unlock one watermarked export per day by choosing to watch a rewarded advertisement. Those ads are served by Google AdMob.
If you watch an ad, Google receives the technical data it needs to serve and measure it (such as your device type, coarse locale and an advertising identifier where you have allowed one). On iOS this is governed by Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt: if you decline tracking, no advertising identifier is shared. You can read Google's practices in the Google privacy and terms. Watching ads is entirely optional — nothing in the breakdown toolkit requires it — and Pro removes advertising completely.
Ads are never shown over your film, and no part of your video, analysis or annotations is ever sent to an advertising network.
Purchases
Subscriptions and one-time purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store (StoreKit). We never see your payment details. The app stores only a local flag indicating whether Pro is unlocked, plus your remaining export allowance. Purchases can be managed or cancelled at any time in your App Store account settings.
This website
The site you are reading is separate from the app. It is hosted on Firebase Hosting and uses Google Analytics for Firebase to count page views and understand which sections people read. That measurement uses cookies or equivalent local storage and collects standard web data such as your approximate region, browser, device type and referring page. It is not linked to any account and it has no access whatsoever to the app on your phone.
Firebase Hosting also keeps standard server request logs. If you would rather not be counted, any browser-level ad or analytics blocker, or a private window, will prevent it.
What we never do
- No selling, renting or sharing of your data
- No cloud copies of your film or analysis
- No fingerprinting, and no cross-app tracking without your explicit permission
Children
TakticalSnap is a general-audience utility for analyzing sports footage. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If the app's data practices ever change — for example if an optional cloud backup feature is added — this policy will be updated first and the effective date revised. Material changes will be highlighted in the app's release notes.
